If you are not having fun, the crowd isn’t having fun—this sums up the philosophy of Beyond Dishonor. Comprised of five members with very disparate influences, styles and quirks, this stalwart of the resurgent New Jersey Metal scene combines all of those myriad differences between them and, somehow, creates music that is brutal and aggressive enough for the most hardcore of fans and yet groovy enough to be accessible to those on the fringe.

Lancaster, PA, is a town where farmers share roadways with punk rockers; where a new convention center juts from a landscape of cornfields; where the nation’s oldest farmers market, an opera house, and a rock club frequented by rock and roll heavyweights all lie within a two-block radius. It’s also where the members of Slimfit forged lifelong friendships and learned to love the dichotomy of their hometown that now infuses their music.
On paper, Slimfit would seem to live in two worlds, divided between the modern and the nostalgic. But on tape, their music flows as smoothly as the sweet Susquehanna River that meanders through the lyrics of so many of their songs.
On one hand, the members of Slimfit pledge their allegiance to all things dusty, rusty and unadorned—an aesthetic that shows their affinity for the music of Tom Petty, Gram Parsons and Steve Earle, whose lonely narratives, indelible melodies and unembellished meat-and-potatoes rock songs echo throughout Slimfit’s catalog. What it doesn’t account for is their love for iPhone apps and old Bad Religion albums. Twitter updates and microbrews. Dinosaur Jr guitar heroics and Aziz Ansari stand-up bits. These are the elements that keep Slimfit’s music engaging even for music lovers who normally don’t get within 100 feet of anything twangy. And never have they been on fuller display than on the band’s latest album, The Path, the follow-up to 2008’s acclaimed Make It Worse.
In between pastoral ballads and country romps, the band immerses itself in the rock side of alt-country, meandering its way through arena-worthy chorus hooks, ebullient E Street guitar leads, four-part vocal arrangements and some straight-up, blistering, raw Crazy Horse riffage – and that’s all on the first track.
“The Path certainly captures more of our rock and roll leanings and less of our country ones,” admits guitarist Patrick Kirchner. “Even with the edgier sound, though, I think the same musical undercurrent runs through the songs. Call it earth or dirt or twang or whatever. It’s just honest songwriting. And it’s always been at the heart of Slimfit.”
Lyrically, frontman Joey McMonagle sorts through the remnants and keepsakes of relationships, be they with friends, lovers, God or his own ideologies. “Pretty much all the songs stack up to address the path of the human condition,” Kirchner notes, “all the struggles and fears and hopes and unknowns that lie in trying to traverse the right path or avoid the wrong one.”
The Path comes on the heels of Slimfit’s debut album,Make It Worse, which drew praise from across the musical spectrum, from tastemaking rock stations like WXPN (“Slimfit has created a great new sound”) to pop culture hubs like Pop Matters (“All the best elements of that thing called alt-country, wrapped up in one gorgeously orchestrated, irresistibly catchy tune”), from American press to an alarming amount of overseas outlets, thanks in particular to the ever effusive Dutch. Ze houden Slimfit!
But critical praise was never really the goal here. For these longtime blood brothers, the process of writing, recording and performing music just rolls out of their friendship. It’s a way of figuring out their place in life, as rock and roll lifers in a small Pennsylvania town; as beer-swilling boys with real jobs, wives and children; as grown-ass men apt to cut it loose as if they were half their ages—as most of them were when they first met. They’re going to figure it out together, and damned if they’re not going to have fun doing it.
“The way we write songs and the way we interact is a testament to our friendship,” McMonagle says. “I can’t imagine being in a band where we’re not all best friends."
That’s one Path truly worth following.

They draw inspiration from “the battle artists fight everyday to make ends meet.” When asked about “In Flight,” the band states, “We are four guys trying to make a living off of what we love the most, but we often find ourselves being shot down to the ground. Multi-instrumentalist group Rusted Root integrate the Grateful Dead's jam-heavy rock with percussion influences based on the music of Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. The six-piece formed in Pittsburgh in 1990 with Michael Glabicki (vocals, guitar), Liz Berlin (vocals, percussion), Patrick Norman (bass, vocals), and Jim Donovan (drums, percussion) as the initial lineup, though John Buynak (percussion, winds) and Jim DiSpirito (percussion) joined later that year. In 1992, Rusted Root released its debut independent album Cruel Sun. However, it was the band's 1994 sophomore album, When I Woke, that garnered the band national attention. With support from college radio and a good buzz from the band's entrancing live show, When I Woke became quite successful in alternative circles during 1995-1996, especially with singles such as "Send Me on My Way" and "Ecstasy." In mid-1996, Rusted Root released the Evil Ways EP, a compilation of live tracks with the band's contributions to the movies Twister and Home for the Holidays. The group's second album, Remember, followed in October. Produced by Jerry Harrison, it reached the Top 40 in its first week of release. A self-titled LP followed in 1998. After some time off, Rusted Root returned with Welcome to My Party in 2002 before leaving the world of major labels behind and releasing the 2004 album Rusted Root Live on their own indie imprint, Touchy Pegg. Breaking the seven-year wait for a new studio album, Stereo Rodeo landed in 2009.

The Story of Dr. Acula begins back in 2005 when Bill Graffeo, lead guitarist and only remaining original member, corralled a few of his friends and started making music. The late Mitch Hedberg, a prominent cult comedian, is credited with the inspiration for the moniker “Dr. Acula” after making the joke “Man. I went to the doctor the other day. All this guy did was suck blood out of my neck. Never go to see Dr. Acula” Surely you don’t want to follow his advice, at least when it comes to the band.
The 7-piece known as Dr. Acula consists of vocalists Casey Carrano and Tyler Guida, guitarists Bill Graffeo and Ricky Ostolaza, bassist Kevin Graffeo, drummer Jesse Ciapa, and keyboardist Joey Simpson. With many different musical backgrounds in grindcore, hardcore, metal and hip-hop, Dr. Acula’s party metal-core style is both unique and diverse, reaching a virtually untapped market.
Dr. Acula received the attention of Victory Records CEO Tony Brummel early in 2010. Brummel called the band to request a meeting at his Chicago headquarters…the following hour. Being in Iowa at the time was not going to stop the band, and they drove the 200 mile difference through a thunderstorm to seal their position as part of the Victory Records family.
The band’s first official release on Victory Records, titled Slander, is out February 15th 2011 and the band couldn’t be more thrilled about it. “This release is our best effort yet. We’re hoping this record brings us to the next level and opens many new doors. We put our hearts and souls into it,” says drummer Jesse Ciappa.
While it may be hard to believe that Dr. Acula have only been around for half a decade given all that they have accomplished-including sharing the stage with such bands as A Day To Remember, Attack! Attack!, Devil Wears Prada, and Emmure- they have no doubt carved out an undeniable niche for themselves in the hardcore scene. What started out as an excuse to simply have fun with their friends has become a nation wide party for both Dr. Acula and their growing legion of fans.

Craig has been called this generation's "troubadour piano man" (Jambands.com, Jan 2011), combining the pop sensibilities and greatly skilled musicianship of Billy Joel and Ben Folds, with the lyrical smarts of Randy Newman. His voice brims with soul and personality, coming from his strong native New Yorker identity, and also from his experience getting his start while living abroad, performing in the bars and on the streets of Chile and Spain from 2001 to 2003. Since moving back to his home city in 2004, Craig has been a mainstay on the downtown and Brooklyn music scene, and as well has toured nationally and internationally.
Craig's songs, in content and feel, run the gamut from light-hearted and tongue and cheek, to quite dark and edgy. It's his range as a songwriter that sets him apart.

“When I hear music, I’m captivated note by note, sound by sound. Music is a universal language that connects people emotionally no matter how far apart or how different they are from each other. I’ve always felt a need to connect with others, to me this is the ultimate outlet. I write about life in every facet. I love to address the important things and to just bullshit. I’ve found that life often consists of the same things. This is about art, expression and fun. This is about leaving a legacy and etching a name. This is about music and its preservation forever and always. Its the story of my life.” -Mason

Kate Millers music career has evolved from a lifetime of various sources. She caught the bug for being onstage at a early age performing in local theater productions. It was because of her love of musical theater that she began playing piano and writing songs. In college her musical direction shifted to live music when she joined the band Drive Thru Parking. The band continued while Kate worked her way through graduate school studying to be a social worker. Upon graduation, she moved to New York to work with teenagers while pursuing music as a solo artist. Many of her songs draw on her experience as a social work and counselor and she continues to use her music as a vehicle for social good.

Amanda's first guitar was pulled from a dumpster at a construction site where her father worked, and was handed to her after some furniture polish and a mixed set of half-used strings. Despite the collection of varied instruments and equipment he owned, her father's knowledge of music consisted of a crude concept of the major scale only in C, and the fingering for basic G, C, and F chords. She learned what she could from whoever could teach, and what couldn't be taught, she learned on her own. Amanda spent most of her childhood immersed in almost every genre of music by way of a number of great musicians who have either passed on, or whose time for music has passed them by. Since the day her parents brought her home from the hospital into a trailer full of musicians, poets, and artists, she has been in love with music.

From an early age, Darry Miller’s life has been filled with music. His mom took him to his dad’s gigs as a baby and when he got his first drum set at three, he showed an intuitive ability to play. It wasn’t long before he was sitting in with the band, cutting his teeth on rock and roll.
As he got older, he began playing around with digital recording equipment and spent his formative years alone in the basement with it, experimenting with the layering of sounds, tones, harmonies and beats, igniting a true passion for music and an understanding of how powerful it can be.
The solitude Darry found in his basement while recording those first songs lent an intimacy to his lyrics then that he carries through to his songs today. Trying to understand life, love, loss and ambitions are a constant theme and are easily related to by his growing fan base. That fan base started when he passed some demos around to his friends at school and continues to expand as more people are turned on to his unique combination of pop, funk, blues and Americana.
In 2009, Darry signed with the independent label Ripple Creative Records and now tours with several very talented band members: Mike Elliot, Alan Greiner, Dylan Madar, and Derek Jenkins. After many long ours writing and recording Darry released his first EP Green under Ripple Creative Records in March 2010.
Since that time, Darry Miller and The Veil has been playing shows all over the North East, multiplying there fan base with each and every show. The band recorded 3 killer new songs in mid 2011, that have already been released, and can be heard LIVE at a show near you! Once Darry’s vocals reach the tip of your ear drums, you will understand the buzz about how this is just the beginning to an amazing musical career for Darry Miller and The Veil.

Laura Stevenson was schooled in the traditional music of her grandfather and grandmother (composer of "The Little Drummer Boy" and vocalist for the Benny Goodman Orchestra respectively) from an early age. It wasn't until she started performing with Bomb The Music Industry in her teens, that she began writing on her own. Privately crafting songs on the softer side of indie rock and traditional folk, Stevenson was soon tapped as the band's opener and, with the addition of Mike Campbell and Alex Billig in 2007, Laura Stevenson and the Cans solidified. Their live band grew into a quintet, often times swelling to eight members, and the following debut LP, A Record, won them fans far and wide having been downloaded over 25,000 time since it's 2008 release.
Sit Resist, an album centered around never sitting stagnant, sees a matured band that has been continuously at work writing, arranging and touring for the past three years. Lyrically, Stevenson's pen has a sharp, poetic tone, making it impossible not to be taken in by her stories. Where A Record crackled with Stevenson's intimate voice alongside gentle acoustics, begging the listener nearer, Sit Resist commands the attention of all within earshot with its rich instrumentation and textured melodies.
Over the course of the album's thirteen songs, you'll hear the band weld a variety of musical styles that dreamily caress and nurture one another into a wholly unique rendering of Americana. "Master of Art" with its Phil Spector-esque, girl-group tease of an intro, explodes with the energy of Stevenson's voice - an instrument that is as strong as it is lovely. "Caretaker" conjures up ghosts and memories of homes inevitably / regrettably left behind. You'll find major-key resolution in the juxtaposed tale that is "The Healthy One," and "I See Dark" waltzes you, dear listener, into the lonely night, hand-in-hand.
The overall effect achieved by Laura Stevenson & the Cans is an album that's as invigorating and life-affirming as it is quietly emotional and delicate. This is an intelligent, literate album crafted of fragments of fleeting memories of time and place, yet it manages to convey volumes. Sit Resist is a true piece of art! Out now on Don Giovanni Records.

Now riding on a Summer 2010 release of their critically acclaimed self-released LP “On Our Own Together,” the band continues to show they have a unique but enjoyable sound. Support from world renowned Philadelphia radio station 88.5 WXPN has helped the band dive headlong into conquering the mid-Atlantic region and beyond with energetic live performances and their signature songwriting. Kingsfoil frontman Jordan Davis’ strong vocals soar above carefully crafted arrangements by bandmates Tristan Martin (guitar, keys), Tim Warren (bass), and Frankie Muniz (drums). As their recent feature in Beatweek Magazine pointed out, “each new endeavor the Kingsfoil boys take on seems to make them increasingly popular and marketable.” At the very least they’re trying to make great music and have fun.

Lunic is the music of songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Kaitee Page accompanied by electric midi violinist Megan Berson and oftentimes a live drummer.
Lunic's recent work is a blend of dark ethereal synthpop and dancy electronic indie similar to Metric, The xx, The Kills, Ladytron, or Garbage. Keith Wilson played guitar and sang with Lancaster-based band Movies With Heroes for over a decade, releasing several albums including the acclaimed "Nothing Here is Perfect" on CI Records and touring the US and Europe in the process. Upon dissolution of that project, Keith continued to write material which evolved under the moniker Saint Narcissus. Saint Narcissus reflects a less bombastic and more nuanced and reflective side of his songwriting. However, the Saint Narcissus songs are no less emotionally affecting and melodically surprising.

At an age when most kids start playing with matches, Mike McMonagle was, well, also playing with matches. Luckily, the day came when matches lost their luster and he picked up a guitar. It was a Saturday, presumably, and the Pennsylvania sky was blue and cloudless (probably). The first chord he ever strummed was an E minor; to this day, Mike still plays that chord, along with others, to craft an array of folk-inspired ditties about riding trains, drinking wine and the Commonwealth of Virginia. Listening to Mike perform is like taking a deep breath while watching the sun rise on a crisp, dewy morning, after a sleepless night of heavy drinking.

Tarra Layne's pre-released single and video, “Beautiful Day”, has created notable chatter. It’s laid-back, summer-lovin’ groove makes you wanna kick 'em up and throw one back. The soulful singer's self-titled debut was released November 2011.
Since returning home from Music City in late 2010, life has been more than kind to the Pittsburgh, PA native. Tarra Layne is building quite the following, making bold moves, and the future is looking mighty bright for the singer. While settling into her return, The Pittsburgh Tribune Review followed her, cameras in hand, documenting The Life of a Struggling Artist. She swooned the listeners of Froggy 95 last summer in the Rocket to the Stars Contest and opened for up and coming country artist, DJ Miller. She was also broadcast on 93.7 The Fan, working a rendition of Zeppelin tune, “Rock ‘n Roll”. The feature earned her a spot gracing the cover of Smokescreen Magazine for a special music edition in October. She recently competed in the Sing Off! at the Consol Energy Center and victored valiantly, before celebrities Kym Johnson of “Dancing With The Stars” and football prodigy Jerome Bettis hit the stage.
The redhead is on fire and is gearing up to catch any challenge that is thrown her way. At this pace, Tarra Layne may just be the new broad bringing back pop-rock 'n roll-soul with sass.

Hailing from the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York, the Felice Brothers blend folk, Americana, and revivalist roots rock into a uniquely earthy sound. Brothers Ian, Simone, and James Felice grew up in the Hudson River Valley, several miles away from the musical hamlet of Woodstock. Such icons as Bob Dylan and the Band once found inspiration in the region, and the Felice youngsters were driven by a similar muse, gathering every Sunday afternoon for jam sessions and cookouts at their father's house. As their skills improved, the brothers opted to leave the Catskills and relocate to New York City.
With James playing accordion, Simone playing drums, Ian handling guitar/vocal duties, and a former dice-playing friend named Christmas Clapton on bass, the quartet held informal performances in subway stations while hawking its debut album, 2006's Through These Reigns and Gone. Recorded in a chicken coop by the bandmates themselves, the album was rough and imperfect, as was the follow-up effort, Tonight at the Arizona. Such a distinct, ramshackle sound found a quick audience, however, particularly after the band toured alongside Bright Eyes and participated in one of Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble performances in late 2007. The new year brought similar luck, as the Felice Brothers inked a deal with Team Love Records and released a self-titled LP in early 2008. Several rounds of touring followed, including festival stops at Bonnaroo, All Points West, Mountain Jam, and the Newport Folk Festival (where an afternoon rainstorm cut power to the stage, resulting in an impromptu acoustic performance in the mud). The Felice Brothers then returned to the studio, emerging in 2009 with Yonder Is the Clock. More touring followed, including stints with Old Crow Medicine Show, Justin Townes Earle, and the Dave Matthews Band, culminating in the release of a new long-player, Celebration, Florida in 2011.

Salisbury, MD may not be known for its music scene, but Life On Repeat are well on their way to putting it on the map. “When we were first starting out, the closest venues were about two hours away. We rented out halls and churches to hold our own shows," drummer David Walker describes. "Over the years we've managed to establish our own local scene through the shows we've set up."
After playing numerous shows in their hometown, the quintet set out on self-booked tours for nearly two years straight. Life On Repeat’s commitment to the road has allowed them to tour the country and back, sharing the stage with everyone from Chiodos and Bane to Versa Emerge and The Ataris, and performing at festivals such as SXSW, South by So What, and Cornerstone Festival.
Upon signing with Equal Vision Records in early 2009, the band met with producer Brian McTernan (Thrice, Circa Survive, Senses Fail) in Baltimore, MD to record the four song EP, As I Grew, that was released in December 2009. Offering their new music to fans via Bandcamp’s “pay what you want” model, the EP reached over 8,000 new fans within a year. Nearly a year to the date after releasing As I Grew, the band returned to the recording studio, this time with Taylor Larson [Sky Eats Airplane, Of Legends] at the Bethesda, MD-based Oceanic Recording Studios. “Taylor really understands our sound and the direction we wanted to take on the album. His endless ideas and creative production really pushed us to the next level,” explains guitarist Andrew Baylis.
The result is the band’s first full-length album: Struggle + Sleep. Of the new release, vocalist Patrick Purves explains, “So many people go through the motions of life without getting all they can out of it and without living life to the fullest. I was once told, ‘Life is nothing but struggle and sleep.’ I can’t help but find it to be very depressing, but very true at the same time. People should never live their life that way, filled with negativity and anger within them. I would much rather put my efforts into staying positive and accomplishing goals, even in the face of adversity.”
Struggle + Sleep is not only more honest than previous recordings, but far more aggressive and musically focused, allowing for the emotional intensity of their lyrics to shine through. Purves flawlessly blends smooth R&B vocals and melodic hooks with the aggression and passion of pop-punk, intricately woven over the heavy riffing guitars of Baylis and Zach King, powerful, driving bass leads of Devon Voisine and the relentless energy of Walker behind the drum kit.
With their powerful new album, Life On Repeat hopes fans can identify with the theme of the new album: the beautiful downfall that comes as a result of persevering through the hardest of times. “I do a lot of my writing when I'm depressed,” Purves concludes. “I find relief from those
personal struggles through my writing and I hope the listener can find a similar relief in these new songs.

Ice Nine Kills, The band, named after the ultimate weapon of mass destruction from the Vonnegut novel, Cats Cradle -will, like its namesake, awe you. On their newly released album, Safe Is Just A Shadow, the group seamlessly weaves soaring melodies with the raw emotion and aggression of post hardcore and metal, creating in the process a refreshing sound that both soothes and knocks-over the listener. The band utilizes multi textured guitar hooks, a dual vocal attack, and a pummeling rhythm section which takes the listener by the throat, and refuses to let go.
INK's relentless touring schedule, combined with intelligent guerilla marketing tactics, helped their last EP, The Burning, pass the 30,000 CD's sold mark . This was no easy task, especially without national distribution. When the band was not pouring their hearts into intense live performances, one of which resulted in a broken heel, they would be at malls, skate parks, other shows and festivals, spreading their manically infectious music with ipods and headphones. "The past 2 years we really tried to make every second count with this band," said Spencer. "In a day and age when alot of bands might chill backstage instead of meeting their fans, kids found it really refreshing that we were out there on the streets and in the parking lots, pushing something that we really believe in."
Their Hard work is definitely starting to pay off, and this is becoming apparent at their live shows, "It's always an amazing feeling to show up in a place you have never played before like Dallas TX, or Orlando FL, and have kids scream your lyrics back to you. We were absolutely blown away by the reaction we had on the kids at Warped Tour the past two summers. I know we definitely turned a lot of heads. We are even starting to see kids with our lyrics and album art tattooed on their bodies, it's absolutely mind boggling. It makes the ten hour night drives, sleeping on floors, and other hardships of being in a touring band all worthwhile," Spencer said in a recent interview.
With Revolver Magazine's stamp of approval (a band you need to know- December 2010 issue), a fanatical online following (consistently landing them in the top 10 on both the Myspace and PureVolume charts), and 2 years of highly acclaimed performances on the Vans Warped Tour under their belt, Ice Nine Kills is looking to do some serious damage in 2011.

As a young adult in Lancaster, PA, Taylor watched his older brother, Chad Taylor, tour the world as one of the founding members of LIVE. "Not every musician gets a mentor that has sold 25 million records. I get wonderful advice," says Adam of his rock and roll predecessor. “ The first day into recording No Poet, we decided that “Oliver” needed a bridge. Chad's an amazing producer, partly because he has been produced by some of the greats in the past. He used this trick that he learned from Jerry Harrison [of Talking Heads]. Chad's thought process was, ‘If I pressure Adam, like an engine he'll explode with a genius idea that stuns us all.’” The pressure culminated in Adam making an inflammatory comment he knew would insult Chad. Of course, in Taylor family fashion, he punched Adam in the face.
Yet the younger Taylor has no reason to feel lost in his brother’s large shadow. Citing inspirations from Tom Waits to Saul Williams, Taylor’s old-school soul can be felt through his visually quirky, socially conscious lyrics and ragtime-inspired folk-pop. “It’s so easy to be a poet, and so hard to be a man.” The poetry of Charles Bukowski means more to Adam Taylor than scribbles on paper; it is the inspiration to his literate, fist-in-the-air debut, No Poet.

A World Once Silent burst onto the music scene in the summer of 2010. With a line up that consisted of the most dedicated musicians, most members still in high school, they began writing music that would quickly become fan favorites in the local area. Inspired by their favorite hardcore bands, AWOS began writing quality hardcore music consisting of melodic guitar riffs and brutal headbanging breakdowns, while keeping danceable parts to sustain mosh pit excitement. Opportunities rapidly became available for AWOS to play with some national acts such as, The Human Abstract, God Forbid, Texas in July, This or The Apocalypse, Ace Augustine, Greeley Estates, The Faceless, Suffocation, Winds of Plague and Chelsea Grin. The band has shown they can hold their own on stage and keep the crowd engaged. A World Once Silent recorded their EP, In The Company of Wolves, produced by Alex Koppenheffer of Highland Audio, and released it 05/30/11 which has been well received to date. The band is currently writing new material in preparation for a full length album. AWOS continues to perform at every opportunity, gaining fans and expanding their fan base.

When brothers Jon and Chris Lijoi traveled to Florence, Italy with Wayne Krantz and the NYU Big Band they conceived an idea tracing back to their teenage interests: tight funk grooves and black and white horror flicks. “We wanted to take the live performance one step further and incorporate a visual stimulant,” explains front man Jon Lijoi of their unique performance wherein they project old horror movies on stage while playing. The idea came about after a rigorous week of rehearsals and gigs with Krantz. Maybe it was the change of scenery, or the bottle of wine that triggered this newfound project, but it was at their last Italian dinner they agreed to set up jam sessions once they were back in the states.
Coming back to New York the brothers quickly assembled a crew of inspired music students to set forth with on this project. After a great deal of playing together the band was no longer just an idea but a group of nine guys with a mutual love and dedication to funk, soul, and jazz music. Not to mention they had an oversized tapestry (Thanks Casey!), HD Projector (Thanks Dan!), and a slew of old school horror flicks at their disposal. Constantly searching for new outlets and experiences they occasionally collaborated with hip hop artists such as Illspokin and emcees from Trustatement Ent. Now, close to a year later the band just can’t get enough of the stage, with three residencies under their belt at NYC venues Sullivan Hall, Lit Lounge, and Tutuma Social Club.
Just like their trip across the Atlantic the Night of the Living Funk’s shows are about exiting your day to day and entering a funk injected dance party. Their influences range from The Black Exotics to Michael Jackson to Outkast and they perform an array of originals, covers, and arrangements. So be prepared for anything, who knows what’s going to happen? As Chris Lijoi exclaims, "We don’t, and that’s the beauty of it all.”

"They say you only live once, so I'll push the limit 'til it's over the edge," screams AUBURN frontman Brian Colantonio in the song ‘Freeman's Legacy’.
With Parallels, the Boston area natives’ debut full length, AUBURN lives up to those words by pushing the limit over the course of twelve blisteringly heavy, melodically laced, in-your-face tracks. The album, produced by Chris Curran (FOUR YEAR STRONG, THEREFORE I AM, VANNA) and mastered by Alan Douches (EVERYTIME I DIE, UNDER0ATH, NORMA JEAN), is a dynamic blend of riff-heavy hardcore and melodic songwriting sensibilities.
“When we began brainstorming ideas for this record, we wanted a way to explain the changes we’ve gone through in every aspect of our lives,” explains Colantonio on the album’s title. “When I look back at the person I was as recently as two years ago I realize that I looked at life much differently then.”
Since the band’s debut EP, 2009’s Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth (Blue Duck Records), AUBURN has spent the ensuing two years touring coast to coast, sharing the stage with the likes of THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, EVERY TIME I DIE, FOUR YEAR STRONG, MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER and more. Along the way, the band has honed and refined their approach – the songs are heavier, the lyrics are deeper and the live show has even more energy and intensity.
”I wanted Parallels to represent the person I am now compared to the person I was in the past just as much as I want it to compare the sound we had then to the sound we have now,” Colantonio explains. The lyrics are written in that vein – to identify similarities and compare ‘parallels’”.

The Castros is a husband & wife musical team that met in Savannah, Georgia in the summer of 2006. Their music began in a friend's living room where Sara taught Marco his first guitar chords. They would later go and start creating music together, combining very different musical influences to craft their own sound, in an attempt to reflect their passions, life experiences and God's light to the listener through their songs.
Marco was born in Costa Rica and has been influenced by a lot of musical genres and styles that range from heavy music to latin rhythms. Sara grew up in Newark, OH listening to classic rock and folk music. No wonder where their need of experimentation comes from and how this collapse of influences makes them unique. They even have a few songs in Spanglish!
Now they reside in Columbus, OH, their base of operations, where they spend their time waiting, dreaming, writing and taking their music wherever they go.
They craft their songs in such a way to have a deeper meaning for the listener that would evoke strong feelings to help soften the heart and open it to the infinite possibilities of love.

When Ryan Hickey and Brad White started jamming together in 2006, it was far from serious. They recorded their music with a laptop--improvising everything on the spot--and didn’t pay attention to song structure or rhyme schemes. It may have been all fun and games at the time, but little did either of them know that what they had in common would grow into something more than a music project. That their collaboration would become a band. That their band would write and record songs. That their songs would give them the opportunity to play with a national headliner.
The Resort has come a long way from Hickey’s basement in Lancaster, PA, where Hickey and White recorded their first song. Over the past three years, the band has self-released two EP’s as Open Ravine--both of which have gained them recognition in the Central PA music scene. Now sporting their new name, “The Resort”, the group is slated to release their third EP, Come Get Some, this fall 2011. When asked about the name change, White replied, “We’re not the same band we were when we started out. We’ve grown so much in the past few years, and we wanted a new name to reflect that.” White went on to add that it was the right time for a change.

The redhead is on fire and is gearing up to catch any challenge that is thrown her way. At this pace, Tarra Layne may just be the new broad bringing back pop-rock 'n roll-soul with sass.

Formed in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Texas in July came together in 2007 while the bandmembers were still in high school together. Consisting of singer Alex Good, drummer Adam Gray, guitarists Christian Royer and Logan Maurer, and bassist Ben Witkowski, the group debuted its intricate, breakdown-heavy metalcore sound in 2008 with the EP Salt of the Earth, released on CI Records. The quintet followed up quickly the next year with its first full-length, I Am, which Texas in July supported by heading out on the road with bands like the Devil Wears Prada and August Burns Red. The summer of 2010 saw Texas in July going through some changes, first announcing that they were signing on with Equal Vision, and shortly afterwards announcing the departure of Maurer, who split with the band amicably after deciding to head to college after finishing high school rather than spending time touring. The band recruited guitarist Chris Davis and went back into the studio to work on its debut for Equal Vision, One Reality, which was released in 2011.
